Karachi waterfront Project was thought to change the face of karachi city scape . It was a bright new chapter in karachi’s history .. This Mega project of Pakistan included Special Economic Zones which would have created a hub for trading, manufacturing and services industry supported by world-class infrastructure and amenities.Unfortuantly, global developer Limitless, has dropped the plan to go ahead with this multi billion dollar project that was unveiled in Jun 2006. .Sources say there was a strong hidden opposition from political parties as well as from NGOs. NGOs were of the view that this project will damage the costal life Looking at the current world economic situation Limitless spokesman said

“As a global developer, we explore many potential opportunities, some of which will fit our global strategy and some of which will not. Karachi Waterfront never progressed beyond memorandum of understanding stage, and did not fit our global strategy,”.

Now limitless is considering its place in $ 12bn mixed use project in india.

This is how the project was percived

jo bhi hai yar we all know kay if we have a well developed port ,without doubt it will be a strong trade hub! take gawadar for instance , its no where near completion! kabhi chinese agwa ho jatay hain kabhi kuch ho jata hai! no one wants us to develop , not only the local dictators but also the foreign powers!

Gawadar lol chinese are no more developing Dha reson : they offerd 5% as a jaga tax but zardari wanted 25% so they said piss off we are going . lol Local dictator was much better than this one . atleast the projects and SUHANAY khuwab were being proposed … But the point is Pakistan has the capabilty of attracting investors . and soon as situatuon gets good all the investors will come back IA
