Today, we received an anonymous mail regarding the current problem in PIFD (Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design) Lahore.

It has been addressed to the administration targeting the unreasonable changes in the hostel arrangements.

The summary is as follows:

We protest against the recent step taken by the administration of PIFD Lahore to combine the boys and girls hostel or to force them to move to the new one. The administration is trying to get benefit of the weak financial position of girls. An option has been given to girls either to live in same hostel while paying the same amount of dues or to move to another hostel where they will have to pay Rs 15000 per month for the hostel which is double the amount that girls were paying before. So in short the girls who cannot afford a high fee are forced and compelled to live in the same hostel which is more disgusting. Though a partition has been created in nominal terms but it can’t yield anything in such situation and the real problem arises with the simple fact that our educational institutes are trying to smother people into paying more or face unseen consequences.

So, it is a request from the students of PIFD, government and concerned people to join hands against this evil move so that the administration could rethink and take back this decision.

PIFD administration is taking this step against the wish and will of the hostel-lite girls and they are completely unsatisfied with this move.

It’s our responsibility to spread out this message and speak on behalf of the students.

We request the administration and the government to volte-face the situation and not jeopardize our student’s future.
